VOLUNTEER REQUIREMENTS

·         Volunteers must be at least 18 years old. Younger volunteers will be accepted only with the consent of a guardian.

·         Volunteers must complete and sign an application and confidentiality form. AASC will check references.

·         Volunteers must provide their own transportation.

·         Volunteers must maintain a professional appearance while representing the agency.

·         Volunteers must take responsibilities seriously. People count on volunteers to fulfill certain jobs, tasks, and assignments.

·         Once a volunteer makes the commitment, he or she must be punctual, dependable and able to contact the director of volunteer services when unable to work.

·         Volunteers are ethically and legally bound to maintain the confidentiality of any information gained through the program.

·         Volunteers are expected to be loyal to the agency, its administrative officers and its staff while in the program.

·         Volunteers may be dismissed for any violation of conduct, membership requirements, or inappropriate behavior.

·         Volunteers should always be courteous, good-humored, and cooperative in all contacts with clients, visitors, staff, and fellow volunteers.

·         Volunteers should never, under any circumstances, offer advice or counsel to a client unless trained to do so.

·         Volunteers should refer any criticisms or complaints about the agency or its staff to the appropriate staff member and the director of volunteer services.

·         Volunteers should not perform unauthorized services on behalf of the agency.

·         Volunteers should not accept money or personal items from clients.

·         Volunteers should report incidents (anything unusual or out of the ordinary which occurs during duty hours and causes injury) immediately to the director of volunteer services and/or immediate supervisor.
